BIBLE VERSES

CAREFULL THIS CONTAINS THINGS FROM THE BIBLE

(Sometimes I have been known to read through the word of God to myself when nobody's around)
SO BE VERY CAREFUL RELIGION COULD BE READ UNDER THIS HEADING

GENESIS 1: 1-5 : In the beginning God created the heavens, and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said: Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he seperated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was evening, and there was morning - the first day. 8/4/11

PSALM 65: Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion, to you our vows will be fulfilled. O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come. When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions. Blessed are those who choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple. You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior, the hope of all ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who still the roaring of the seas, the roar of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades you call forth songs of joy. You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have obtained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for Joy and sing.
Psalm 1-13.   9/4/11

MARK 1-8
The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way - a voice of one calling in the dessert.
Prepare the way for the Lord, and make straight paths for him.
And so John, came baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing thie sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: After me will come on more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

MARK 9-13
THE BAPTISM AND TEMPTATION OF JESUS
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Gordon. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son," whom I love; with you I am well pleased.
At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
MARK 14-20
THE CALLING OF THE FIRST DISCIPLES
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. The time has come, he said. The Kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!
As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. Come, follow me, Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him.
When he had gone a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
